Half of What You See, None of What You Hear uses AI-generated imagery to explore humanity’s obsession with depth, progression, and the unknown. Photorealistic bottomless pits evolve into minimal vortex forms, evoking the tension between curiosity and fear. These digital works are anchored in analog history through the use of vintage IBM punch cards, creating a dialogue between past and present technologies.
By laminating archival computing substrates as the base for AI imagery, Inouye recontextualizes both mediums, inviting reflection on how technological evolution shapes perception. The series challenges viewers to consider how progress, memory, and ambition intertwine in our ongoing pursuit of meaning.
